ACADEMIC
DEPARTMENTS
Besides
the development of Godly character, the primary
focus of our school is the academic program. We are a school
that provides the programs and courses necessary to prepare
students for university. Consequently, there are many academic
options in the senior grades and a minimal number of less
academic courses for secondary students

Grades 6 - 8
All of the Middle School students will be enrolled in the
same courses throughout their Middle School years. Students
in grades 6 – 8 are all required to complete all Core courses
for the ministry, which include Mathematics, English, Social
Studies, Science, and French. Because Music is fundamental
to worship, all students must be enrolled in music through
their Middle School years. In grade 6, all students learn
the fundamentals of music through a "beginning Band" program.
In grades 7 & 8, the students will participate in both
Band and Choir during these years.
Besides the Core courses and Music, all students participate
in Physical Education, Bible, Computer, and Art. The number
of classes per 7 day cycle varies dependent on the grade
and course.
Grades 9 & 10
All students are enrolled in the following courses: Mathematics,
English, Social Studies, Science, French, Bible, Physical
Education, Computer, Art, Foods & Nutrition, Career
and Personal Planning, Band or Choir.
Grades 11 & 12
All students are enrolled in the following courses: Mathematics
11, English 11 & 12, Social Studies 11, a Science 11,
Bible 11 & 12, Band 11 or Choir 11.
Dependent upon the program that the student is endeavoring
to take following graduation, students will choose courses
to complete their program requirements. Such courses may
include: French 11 or 12, Art 11 or 12, Physical Education
11 or 12, Computer 11 or 12, Mathematics 11 or 12, Chemistry
11 or 12, Biology 11 or 12, Physics 11 or 12, Calculus 12,
History 12, Geography 12, English Literature 12, Band 11
or 12, Choir 11 or 12, Stage Band 11 or 12, Jazz Choir 11
or 12, Teaching Assistant.
The above list of courses is fairly comprehensive, and will
enable students to prepare for most entrance requirements
for most programs at the university level.

SPORTS
WRCA Sports Program
W.R.C.A. uses sports as an avenue
to build Godly character. Developing discipline in all areas
of the sports allows the students to develop life long habits
into vehicles that carry them into their futures. Playing
sports at W.R.C.A. also teaches the athletes the benefits
of being dedicated to a cause. There is a high stress with
sacrificing the individual for the good of the whole. The
measurement of success is not in the win/loss column, but
rather on the daily improvement in these areas over their
time at WRCA. Players, parents and coaches relationships
are also valued as everyone together is working towards
the same goal. Together everyone achieves more and this
is the building of our community.
The teams are active in the South Surrey/White Rock area
with playing, competing, volunteering, and interacting within
the community. With the small enrollment of W.R.C.A., the
school has chosen to play fewer sports and stress excellence
in them. In September the gym is packed with eager girls
practicing volleyball. The school runs a Senior, Junior,
Grade 7-8, and Grade 2-6 Volleyball program. The sports
program also runs a Cross Country team in September /October.
In November we see the end of Volleyball and the beginning
of Basketball. The boys teams are Senior, Junior, Grade 7-8,
Grade 5-6, Grade 3-4 and Grade 1-2. In the spring the school
turns to Track and Field which is gaining more interest
every year. Elementary sports also include co-ed soccer and
co-ed softball.
