ABOUT US White
Rock Christian Academy is a category one independent school
run by the interdenominational White Rock Christian Academy
Society. Currently there are over 30 different churches represented
in our student body ranging from a wide variety denominational
backgrounds. White Rock Christian Academy (WRCA) opened its
doors at 2265 152nd street in September of 1981 using Accelerated
Christian Education (ACE) as its core curriculum. In September
of 1990 the curriculum was changed from ACE to a B.C. approved
curriculum taught from a distinct Christian perspective. The
school was housed in the combined 30,000 sq. ft. facilities
with White Rock Christian Fellowship.
Today, White Rock Christian Academy offers a Christian Education
to over 400 students in Grades K - 12 and has a staff of thirty-one
certified teachers and 9 support staff. The main building
consists of 40,000 sq. ft. accommodating classrooms for K-1
gr. 9-12, a gym, computer lab, library, band room, chapel
and cafeteria. Thirteen portable classrooms are housed
on the property.
The school is operated by the White Rock Christian Academy
Society Board of Directors. The school meets all the requirements
of Group I funding by the Ministry of Education. This means
that 50% of the cost of educating a student in the local public
school district is granted to White Rock Christian Academy
by the provincial government for each full time student enrolled
in the school. These funds are designated strictly for operating
costs. The school receives its other funds for operating and
capital costs from student tuitions, donations, and fundraising
efforts. All major capital costs necessary to maintain the
school must be met by parents and supporters of the school.
Bible is taught as one of the subjects in the school. All
core subjects are
taught from a biblical perspective. Students are challenged
to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding (wisdom) and
then to use their knowledge, skills and understanding to impact
their present and future
community for good.
WRCA has strong extra-curricular academic, arts and athletics
programs. Students have won various awards at local and national
music festivals. WRCA has also had students compete and earn
local and national recognition in math contests, writing contests
as well as model united nations events and geography challenges.
In boys' basketball, girls' volleyball, Track and Field and
Cross Country the teams have attained top ranking in the Fraser
Valley Division and have competed at the B.C. Provincial Championships.
Both basketball and volleyball teams have won provincial championships
on numerous occasions.
The Christian teachers at White Rock Christian Academy are
dedicated to providing an excellent Christ centred education
for the students and assisting them in developing Godly character
and a sound Biblical worldview.
Each teacher is challenged to continuously grow professionally
to be the best they can be in their specific field. WRCA has
had both teachers and administrators serve on both government
and independent school evaluation teams.
Every student is encouraged to develop their God-given gifts.
This is done through both our curricular (course offerings
in instrumental and choral music, graphic art, senior Math,
Social Studies, English and the Sciences) as well as our extracurricular
(jazz band and choir, sports teams, student council, worship
teams, model united nations, yearbook, academic contests,
science fairs, etc.) programs as well as through the close
relationships and mentoring that happens on a day to day basis.
